|Official Launch Of Aseanarean Bluewater Alliance (ABA)||29-08-2012|
|Raffles Marina, Singapore and Phuket Boat Lagoon, Thailand, together with 10 marinas around the region, announces the official launch of the Aseanarean Bluewater Alliance (ABA) on Saturday, 1 September 2012, at Raffles Marina.
The ABA was formed to serve as a strategic alliance of premier cruising clubs and marinas. Its purpose is to promote nautical lifestyles and seamless marine tourism, by offering premier destinations, share local knowledge and offer special privileges for cruising yachtsmen and to support cruising yachts.
Through the establishment of such a strategic bluewater alliance, cruising to and within Aseanarean, the world’s largest nautical lifestyle region and home to the world’s highest marine biodiversity, will be facilitated. Cruising experiences will be enhanced, and more active and regular cruising between alliance members, will be encouraged.
The Aseanarean region is defined as the seas encompassing the 10 Asean nations of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Selected premier yacht clubs or marinas in the Aseanarean region, that possess the necessary attributes, and are able and willing to forge such an alliance, were included, by invitation only, to co-found ABA.
ABA was 1st soft-launched in Phuket Boat Lagoon in Dec 2011, by Raffles Marina (Singapore) and Phuket Boat Lagoon (Thailand), as joint-founders in the presence of and supported by Ocean Marina, The Royal Selangor Yacht Club and Krabi Boat Lagoon. The co-founders now include, Admiral Marina & Leisure Club (Malaysia), Bali Marina (Indonesia), Batavia Sunda Kelapa Marina (Indonesia), Krabi Boat Lagoon (Thailand), Nongsa Point Marina (Indonesia), Ocean Marina Yacht Club (Thailand), Royal Langkawi Yacht Club (Malaysia), Straits Quay Marina (Malaysia), Sutera Harbour (Malaysia) and The Royal Selangor Yacht Club (Malaysia).
The signing ceremony and official launch will be held at 5.30pm, in the Atrium of Raffles Marina. It will be graced by VIPs from the various Marinas and Yacht Clubs. Guests and media are invited.
In conjunction with the official launch, Raffles Marina is celebrating its 18th Anniversary on 1 and 2 September 2012. The two-day event will highlight activities such as BoatFest, a brokers’ boat show, Kelong fishing and activities for both the young and young at heart. The Club’s anniversary dinner will also serve as Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, taking place at the Raffles Marina’s Lawn on 1 September.
