Kirkwall marina is an all year facility located within the harbour, just yards from the visitor attractions of this ancient port. Our Marina Staff or local volunteers will welcome you and give you information on sailing around the Orkney Islands, local attractions and facilities. Boat repair and chandlery services are also nearby.
There are many local shops, hotels and restaurants close by where you will find warm Orcadian hospitality and fresh local produce. Highland Park and Scapa Distilleries, the most northerly whisky distilleries in Britain, are also within walking distance.
Orkney Sailing Club, located across the harbour from the Marina, welcomes all visitors to the port of Kirkwall whether in a visiting yacht or just a tourist in the Islands.
Follow the Viking Trail to Westray where you will find the smallest of the Marinas on Orkney. The welcome here is famous; Marina Staff will watch you approach and meet you at the Marina when you arrive.
Visitors like to stock up on fresh local produce while visiting Westray; there’s a bakery, plenty of fresh local seafood, preserves, and ‘Westray Wife’ cheese.
Westray, known as 'The Queen O' The Isles', has its own historic sites, RSPB nature reserve and sandy beaches. Watch the gannets diving off Noup Head, visit the 16th century Notland Castle or see nature at its best on the West Westray Walk. Visitors to Westray return year after year.
Stromness Marina is in the historic harbour town of Stromness. A picturesque and bustling small town, the winding streets lead to a range of eateries, local independent shops and galleries.
Our seasonal Staff or local volunteers will greet you and give you advice on sailing around the Orkney Islands, and where to find nearby boat repair and chandlery services.
Stromness is the perfect place from which to visit the sites of the West Mainland of Orkney, especially the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, a group of Neolithic monuments including Skara Brae, the best preserved group of prehistoric houses in Western Europe. A truly special place. Also nearby, there are a spectacular ten mile coastal walk, two highly acclaimed breweries, bird reserves, brown trout fishing lochs and several villages with shops, tearooms and craft studios.
